He clearly wasn't in it for Maria herself-- he's just a thrill seeker who is doing random stuff for excitement because he feels empty after Daryl. People who think he's a rapist are either not understanding the character as written with everything we are given from introduction through his Daryl arc or want to be outraged over stuff. There's nothing lecherous about the character in his actions or dialogue beyond that-- it's just not a consistent way to take the character. --- No problem!
