It's an artificial way to keep player salaries down. Salary caps are not inherently anti-worker. A near 100/0 revenue split for players divided 32 ways as a salary cap would be much closer to what you'd expect from a co-op type set up. When e.g. Joe Burrow resets the QB market, he's not winning a battle against the owners. It's money that isn't going to other players.
