You talk about responsibility in this topic a bit so I think it is worth bringing up that McCarthy lied a ton to Democrats after becoming speaker. He was not extreme enough for the far-right contingency, sure, but Democrats letting him hang himself isn't extremism; it's just that any promises he makes in exchange for Democratic speakership votes are worthless because he'd already broken his word.

Surely you understand it's his responsibility not to lie and that he really can only blame himself if a majority of the house was ready to see him gone.

Also, why should the burden of the Olive Branch be on the Democrats after 1/6 and the continued misinformation they push regarding the 2020 election?
