The Conference was solid. Netflix has been keen on delivering pretty good to great foreign language horror films this year (edit: LAST year, gonna be a tough habit to break) in my opinion. This one isn't quite in that A tier for me, only because the killer is a little weak and nothing special or new. But this is a really solid slasher film nevertheless; it's billed as "horror comedy" but I wouldn't go that far. It's much closer to Scream than Scary Movie. The ensemble cast is pretty good and there are a few super over-the-top detestable douches that get theirs which is always really fun. Plenty of creative kills too. The story is again not the strongest, it's a little vanilla but sometimes it's best to play it safe with something that will easily make sense than go all in on something that's not going to hold any water at all. So long as you shoot the film well and have good actors, a plot that's been seen before in some ways before isn't a sin in my book. I like films like that usually; can't go wrong with a tried and true formula.
