MILFs are rarely old enough to be a person's actual mother. And, in general, a tendency towards incest is kinda baked into the human mind because the conception of attractiveness is often based on biological predispositions to certain features associated with an ethnicity. The only reason why most of us aren't attracted to relatives is, of course, the Westermarck Effect which is also why childhood friends don't necessarily ever see each other in a sexual light.

As for porno, people just flat-out like taboos. Plus, the more porn they consume, the less vanilla stuff they go for because it no longer excites them.

Well the meaning of the word has gone from mothers who are attractive (and can be anywhere from 16 to 26) to a term meaning 40-50 year old women with their wrinkles and gross aged skin, regardless of whether or not they're mothers specifically.

It really hasn't. Plus sub-20s were rarely considered MILFs, it was always more women in their 20s or 30s. 40s was usually the cutoff.
