There's nothing stopping you from being health & loving anime, anyone who tells you differently is a complete ass. Otakus are not losers anymore then humans in general are, what did Otakus "lose"? We're all dying someday, we might as well spend our time doing what we enjoy. Japanese people consider otakus to be losers. Liking anime is totally fine but the term otaku is specifically associated with being a loser with no social skills.
