While the boycott from triggered Trumpkins HAVE played a role, it's also stupidly idiotic to point to this as the sole reason why ratings have been dipping. The NFL has been losing ratings for the last couple of years after hitting unsustainable and record numbers. TV ratings in general have continued to dip. Like most things in life it's not all one factor and it's being ignorant to suggest as such.

No one is saying it's the sole reason. But it is a reason, and that is hurting business. People have been repeatedly surveyed on this topic and said things like this:

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/sep/24/inside-the-beltway-take-a-knee-and-either-pray-or-/

As the NFL struggles to explain this seasons downturn in viewer ratings, 34 percent of American adults say they are less likely to watch an NFL game because of the growing number of protests by players on the field, the poll reports, noting that 12 percent say they are more likely to watch, while half say the protests have no effect on their viewing decisions.

So, owners are absolutely 100% justified in asking players not to do things on the job that are pissing off customers and hurting business. That's what the players' free time is for. Not sure why any of you guys think they should be entitled to behave however they want when they're at work.

What would you think if a coach wanted his players to kneel and some players refused and stood for the flag? What if this same coach threatened to bench players who stood for the flag?
