You, uh... might want to update your opinion here. Soccer has arguably surpassed hockey as the US's fourth most-popular sport (US ratings for English Premier League games now exceed those of NHL games). This is especially true at the sub-pro level - more kids play soccer than any other sport except for baseball.
Soccer isn't making a push for Big Three status yet, but it's definitely trending in that direction.
