The average cop does not, and I agree with that. That's why I wish more of them would want to kick the shitty cops to the curb, instead of defending them.

The problem is a snitches get stitches aspect of the toxic culture. If you speak out against an awful cop, he keeps his job, and a week later youre in a life-threatening situation and need someone for backup... are he or his buddies actually going to come?

We should not strive for the casual villainization of the people who (for the most part) are all just trying to serve and protect. That only widens the rift between civilians and law enforcement.

Rampant brutality also widens that rift pretty well, and that has always existed. Especially against minorities, whether thats a conscious decision on their end or not.
