It'd explain Chrono Trigger doing much better these days, and Super Mario World crushing SMB3 by a larger margin. I also don't think Yoshi's Island really affects SMW since it's radically different from the other Mario games and doesn't really have much in common with SMW other than the title and having Yoshi.
