As you know, slavery was illegal in the North. The fact is, in the South where slavery was legal, a third of families owned slaves. Almost all of these families were white. Ah I see what you're doing now. You're only including the south in this argument so it can look like more people owned slaves in America. Last time i checked when the conversation of slavery is brought up today, people focus on all of America.
