Topic	Is it OK to use a certain shorter word when you're talking about raccoons?

Ive yet to hear an actual Japanese person's input on it but I'm not so attached to the word I feel any great loss in just texting "JP" instead lol. But related to the topic, anyone want to weigh in on if "spook" can be used in an innocuous context without raising eyebrows? Its a kind of a weird thing that can be used to refer to ghosts, CIA agents, and as a racial slur.
