The platforming in cuphead is seemlessly involved with the shooting gameplay.
You are CONSTANTLY shooting and mostly jumping. You jump more in a cuphead boss fight than any mario level.
It's a platform shooter, like gunstar heroes.
My opinion of cuphead is that it doesn't deserve such praise. The game is excellent, but it's gameplay of manufactured satisfaction isn't such a master piece. The main complaint against cuphead is it seems trial an error, a test of memory almost. People counter that by saying but every attack is telegraphed. Of course they are, and I've seen it, they are telegraphed extremely well. The detail is nothing short of perfect. If you die, it's 100% your fault, because the game is designed so well.
But that's what it really is, trial and error, only rewarding those with Stockholm syndrome for it.
