It depends on what the celebrity is known for. If it were an athlete, I wouldn't care. What they're able to do on the field is completely independent from whether or not they're likeable.

Athletes are pretty common role models for children, so this is a pretty disturbing outlook.

I didn't say it was unimportant. I said I wouldn't care -- in the sense that I wouldn't find it impossible to ever see that person in their sport again. I doubt they would ever have any sponsorships, or engage in any of the things that go with being a public figure, but I wouldn't keep them from their actual career. With the exception of if their infamy actively drives people away from buying tickets, which could happen in an extreme case or if we were talking about an athlete who was the event, like a prize fighter, there's very little reason to keep them from working any more than if this happened in most any other industry.
