From the Dark is great, it's about a vampire playing a game of cat-and-mouse with a couple in the Irish countryside. Unlike other vampires, *all* light harms it so a lot of the film involves vampires trying to get rid of light sources and the couple trying to find new ones.

Circle is incredible, but linear. It's a wake-up-in-room scenario where every 90 seconds, the group has to pick somebody to die or they all die. Ending is a little flaky, though.

The Void is pretty neat, *and* it has Ellen Wong (Knives Chau). The only downside is the pointlessly confusing backstory for some of the characters. Conceptually, it reminded me a bit of In the Mouth of Madness and Lord of Illusions.

And I know I've recommended Late Phases to you like a dozen times, but I'm not sure if you watched it.

I'm not really a fan of slasher flicks or movies that just have jump scares,

Then stay away from Last Shift, it's like 90 minutes of jump scares

You're Next and Cabin in the Woods were both fun, in a deconstruct the genre kind of way.

Then you might also enjoy Satan's Little Helper -- a slasher-comedy where a boy decides to help a costumed figure he thinks is Satan (not realizing the costumed man is a serial killer on a rampage) -- and the Hatchet films (which are a goofy 80s throwback)

The Cube movies are a treat too.

First is great, rest are spotty.
