Surprisingly, kotaku of all sites actually did good investigative journalism work. It certainly isn't uncommon for employees to post highly opinionated / poorly-written stuff on their personal pages. Remember Adam Orth from the Xbox One "always online" debacle??? But I agree, the Kotaku journalist's work on this seems pretty thorough.
