You joke about those, but I can't tell you how many old white people who specifically ask me "Oh, are you the first person to graduate high school and go to college?" when I'm in a whole group of people. And they only ever ask me.

Just as bad is the "Where are you from?" question that same demographic always asks me. What they really want to know is my ethnicity, but they know it's rude and weird to ask that but then essentially ask it anyway. I always lead those people around, because after I say I'm from PA, then they ask where my parents are from, then my grandparents, then my GREAT grandparents. It's funny how far they'll go just to find out I'm Hispanic.
