Yes? Of course that's what would happen. Doesn't mean it's a terrible thing necessarily.

Why would it not be a terrible thing? What about places that only have one ISP? The town I live in has a single ISP providing high-speed internet, for example.

If I have to start paying additional costs simply to access my email, or to check my bank or pay bills, I'm literally strung up by the neck and given the option to pay and live, or not and die.

A couple towns over where a friend lives is in the same situation, except the USPS office closed there as well, so regular snail mail delivery isn't even guaranteed and is commonly late.

"Having to pay extra to access these things is no big issue to me" is because, honestly, these people really don't care about anyone other than themselves.

The internet is very much a part of every day life in this country--more so than phone service and TV at this point I would say. Kneecapping it to a large portion of the country when there are still places that don't even have the service is not currently the answer.
