"Last resort" means that it's an option always on the table and there's always a threat of physical violence in an argument. Aside from how absurd that is coming from a supposed advocate of free speech, it's really odd to hear that from a rallying symbol of the alt-right, which is a group of people who believe that Neo-Nazis should not be assaulted for their beliefs under any circumstances.

Some of you guys need to stop freaking out if you don't understand someone's argument. He never said it was a live option. In fact, JBP argues against violence. His argument is that possibility of physical violence is always PRESENT between two men in a dispute due to evolutionary mechanisms that predate history.

He absolutely believes that violence is a necessary component of civil discourse. You cannot say that and at the same time be arguing against violence. If he was making a point about how things are, then he might have a point. But he's injecting his own opinions into it, that is, he is "defenseless against that kind of female insanity", which certainly sounds like he's lamenting violence isn't an option against women.

"When men are talking to each other in any serious manner, that underlying threat of physicality is always there, especially if it's a real conversation and it keeps things civilized to some degree."
