You still follow EU regulations, but now you have no input on any changes to those regulations. shrug The alternative would actually still be worse, most likely. Exactly. The thing to understand is that there are no upsides to brexit, unless you work in the tourism industry. We will have to adhere to regulations and give up "muh sovereignty" in order to get a trade deal. We cannot have it both ways. So the options are hard brexit which will destroy the British economy and potentially spark a civil war (not exaggerating) in Northern Ireland, soft brexit which will keep the economy intact and be mostly pointless, or no brexit which will greatly anger half the electorate without at least another referendum to back it up.
