If you run the orb daily your EV is supposedly like 25 stamina per major orb, so still a little worse than torments. But torments are WAY more of a pain to farm because of needing to use a drop monitor. I'm mostly planning on farming crystals now but there still are some orb types I want (mainly summon, because getting those to R5 is useful).

even major summons don't really seem worth it to me compared to crystals. i have Bahamut, Tiamat and Titan R3, could hone two of them to R4 right now if i wanted and have never even once felt compelled to use Ogopogo or Ultima Weapon. but i haven't made neo bahamut yet and don't have enough for valigarmanda R4.

if anything the only time i could see myself going for majors is dark/ice day. mostly just for dark. i haven't honed any ninja magic and all 3 of the magicites i have failed to beat are (or will be) weak to ninja magic. and for some reason they all use dark orbs as their primary.

though dark/ice crystals are needed for omega drive/SSS so idk.
