Zues UDF is open 24/7, they're not allowed to sell liquor to me on Sunday.

Yes, and it's mostly the grocers and corporations which were responsible for the repeal in my state. They spent huge amounts of money buying politicians to overturn the laws. These same major chains also tried to remove our minimum pricing laws, which would have allowed them to kill smaller businesses. (And I should probably explain -- as a liberal state, we have minimum pricing laws for... whatever reason. I think it's to discourage use. I'm honestly not sure how many other states have minimum pricing laws since I hadn't even heard of it prior to living in CT. )

I don't understand how you can equate "not allowed to sell liquor on the day of the Lord" to "giving those poor liquor stores a day off for the economy, thank God I don't live in Canada". That's actually a weird business regulation.

I don't understand how you could conflate separate conversations and combine them into one. At any rate, I said nothing in regards to any alleged religious influence. I did, however, put out that small liquor store owners OVERWHELMINGLY supported blue laws, particularly in CT -- whereas it was opposed by multi-purpose stores which were open anyway. Finally, I addressed Lokarin's comment by pointing out that you'd need to drink to tolerate living in Canada.

Weird or not, though, it's a good law. Anything which makes people *think* about their alcohol consumption rather than impulse-purchase is a step in the right direction. It's a very minor disruption with the chance at a positive outcome. But you're right that it's weird being only one day. Why would bump it to two days a week? =p
