A long time ago in a movie studio far, far away (or close by if you live on the worst coast), a science fiction monolith first premiered, spawning multitudes of sequels, video games, books, and other media. In the past decade, it was purchased by Disney for billions of dollars because of the weight the IP carries. With that being said, it is time for Star Wars to join the pantheon of Board 8's major save my contests. Alongside Disney, Pokemon, and the granddaddy of them all, Final Fantasy, Star Wars warrants that level of attention.

So yeah, starting early next year, I will be hosting Save My Star Wars Character I: The Phantom Contest. Just to establish some rules so people know what kind of contest this will be: trading is allowed, alts are not allowed, rallying is not allowed. If there are any other basic questions people have, please feel free to ask so that I can address those issues early.

Now obviously, there is a LOT of universe to cover, and I do not consider myself enough of a Star Wars expert to correctly select an initial class of characters to make up this first roster. So I'm opening up nominations here and now, and they will run through 11:59:59 on New Years' Eve. These nominations can be from literally ANY media regarding Star Wars. Movies, video games, books, etc. Depending on the response, we could have a field of any size from 50 to 100 characters.

For these nominations, you get to nominate FIFTEEN total characters, and TWO of those nominations are doubles. To denote this, please BOLD that nomination. You are also free to trade nominations if you so desire. If at any point during the nomination process, you wish to CHANGE your nomination, please make a post clearly stating what change you would like to make. However, NO changes are allowed in the final twenty-four hours of the nomination period.

Also, just for MY sanity, when making your nominations, please list the character alongside their origin. Like "Luke Skywalker - A New Hope". This is just so that I can verify which characters are from which movies/games/books/etc, and verify that they are characters that SHOULD be in this contest.

So yeah, nominations will last until the end of the year (11:59:59 on 12/31/17), no nomination changes will be allowed after 11:59:59 on 12/30/17, and nominations are open to ANY characters that fall under the Star Wars umbrella. The top 50+ nominated characters will make the field, with the size of the field determined by interest in the contest.

Also, if anyone is interested in co-hosting this contest with me, please let me know. Because having someone to take the stress off would probably be for the best. But yeah, get to nominating and let's have some fun with this, shall we?
