A liberal hippy against weed, say it ain't so. From a summary of the first episode.
I am making this post because I am extremely disappointed with this episode after their faux experiment with Ultimate Frisbee. I'd have thought the episode until that point was fairly on point (expert panel should've had more time) and I also accounted for the fact that Bill's show had to be homogenized a bit, palatable for their massive Netflix Audience.
It was the Ultimate Frisbee Challenge however that dimmed my outlook on the rest of the season for a few reasons. In a real experiment, you have a control and the variable and then compare the differences. Bill made the original claim that back in his younger days when he was a college UF player, his teammates would be constantly stoned and thus had negatively affected their gameplay.
In this experiment, he compares one team which is a college UF team, you know, people who train and play this game on a regular basis to his stoned team who have actually admitted to never playing this game, not being physically active and seemingly had no interest (stoned or not) in taking this seriously.
Predictably (but not surprisingly) they lost 11 to 0 and Bill leaves it to the audience to conclude (assuming his viewership caters to mostly idiots) that Marijuana is bad for you. That it makes you slow, loss of hand eye coordination, being able to focus on a task, etc. Quite honestly I left it at the 32 min mark with 5 minutes left to write this post.
If he had two expert teams against each other with one side stoned and two amateur teams with one side stoned would have been a far more meaningful experiment. Even the small sample size would have been far more representational than this lopsided bullshit.
Bill Nye is not saving the world, he is willfully putting out false information under the guise of Science! And he worked at Boeing so you should trust him, he's a Scientist! Quite honestly I had high hopes that the second season would be a big departure from the disaster that was the first season but now I've no heart in it to watch the rest.
