Outside of potd and 4chan I feel like she was only culturally relevant for maybe two weeks or so

Well, she was invited to speak to congress and televised talk shoes to speak about how non politically correct video games are evil while nobody asks her to back up anything she's saying with facts since she makes up a large majority of what she's saying.

and did anyone actually give a fuck aside from outraged gamers?

The problem wasn't really what gamers thought, but for a while, a lot of misinformed gaming publishers thought people like Anita Sarkeesian, and her followers who don't even play video games (and thus could not tell that she was lying most of the time), and sites like Kotaku and Polygon, and the main stream media in general, who hire non gamers who are more concerned about pushing a political agenda than actual video games, represented the opinions of a majority of their consumer base because the large platform on which these non gamers are given to speak compared to the people who actually played video games.

But as movies like Ghostbusters 2016 show, as much as the media pushes the righteousness of political correctness and try to portray their opinions as the majority, they are simply not the opinions of the average consumer who only care if the product is entertaining, and are not more entertained when media is politically correct.

The reason most gamers have stopped caring about people like Anita Sarkeesian is most gaming publishers have realized this too.
