John Brown is one of America's greatest heroes. John Brown's cause was obviously righteous, but he was a terrorist by basically any definition of the word. He literally dragged pro-slavery people out of their homes and had them hacked to death by broadswords. It wasn't killing people in battle. He wasn't fighting in self-defense. He was actively abducting and violently murdering people for a political cause.
