My friends and I were all rolling with laughter at how pathetically/abruptly the final fight against Infinite ends. You get that hype of the boost build up and then he just unceremoniously flops over instantly. XD

Yeah I had that same reaction. I feel like they built Infinite up so much they couldn't figure out a way to reasonably beat him so they're like "fuck it, sonic runs into him and he falls over"

I do definitely agree the levels could've been longer, and I feel like that kind of goes into the identity of the stages

like in Generations, I replayed the levels so many times, even after getting all the red rings, because it was so much fun to explore all the different paths (Seaside Hill in particular)

I do really like that they kept that multiple path thing in Sonic Forces, even if they weren't all as fleshed out as I might've hoped

I thought that was the point. Ultimately Infinite was just some edgelord who was given hax powers yet still somehow managed to suck all while using the edgiest persona he could come up with. Heck Sonic didn't even have to go Super Sonic to beat him (and that could have been a cool boss fight if they had fun with how his powers worked and maybe have him fuck with your video settings or some other weird shit)

The reveal of his "backstory" from the dlc and the comic make it even more comical just how shallow his motivations are

Then again, knowing Sonic Team, they probably actually intended to play him totally straight and it wasn't just some parody...

Well at least he has a fun theme!
