Yeah, tell that to my family. Both lines that are 100% Japanese go into full on pidgen at times. It's pretty much dependent on how long they've been here. Can't blame Marshallese and Tongans for it, since many of them are first or second gen here and are learning English as a second language. And most recent Samoans are pretty well spoken, probably because of the stronger presence of English in Samoa. For the Hawaiians and others that have been here since those days though, pidgen is basically a mark of being local.
