And karaoke and Everest aren't even debatable; pronouncing them as I previously stated is just flat out wrong as they have set pronunciations. In Japanese, letters are always pronounced one way. "Ka" will always be pronounced like the "ca" in car, not like in "carry". Just because most people are too ignorant or lazy to say them correctly doesn't make the mispronunciation correct.

It's funny because Japanese immigrants were large contributors to Hawaiian Pidgen.

You might as well go to Japan and yell at Osakans for butchering "proper Japanese".

Actually Pidgin was mostly influenced by the native Hawaiians, which is why a great majority of the people with horrible grammar and syntax here are pacific islanders, either local Hawaiians, or Tongan, Samoan, Marshallese, etc. You rarely see Asians here who speak Pidgin; they speak just normal English or have an accent of their homeland.

Yeah, tell that to my family. Both lines that are 100% Japanese go into full on pidgen at times. It's pretty much dependent on how long they've been here.

Can't blame Marshallese and Tongans for it, since many of them are first or second gen here and are learning English as a second language. And most recent Samoans are pretty well spoken, probably because of the stronger presence of English in Samoa.

For the Hawaiians and others that have been here since those days though, pidgen is basically a mark of being local. Like I said, go tell some Osakans to speak "proper" Japanese and see what their response is.
