That's what everyone else did. Doesn't make the Deist God any less credible than the other Gods born out of religious doctrines. It probably makes it more credible since it doesn't have all the religious doctrines as baggage.

I think the point is that God is the only thing that can come from nothing because it exists outside the rules of the universe. But when you start going down the path of things that happened before time was even a thing, it kind of gets muddied up.

Personally, I'm fine with admitting that I don't know how the universe started. Claiming that it's a god seems needless and superfluous.
