Why isn't that benefit given to rape accusers though? They are committing a crime if they are lying, so why should we assume they are breaking the law when they usually aren't? How can we even determine the truth of anything if we assume it all bullshit from the world go? What motivation do we have? I think you're overestimating the intelligence of the average person.


Because the criminal aspect is literally unprovable, and even in the tiny handful of cases where you can show malicious intent, the case gets dropped and the woman sees zero legal reprecussions.

Because hugely popularized cases turning out to be not only fabrications but malicious ones poisons the well. Because we're afraid to take a forward step in education, teaching the importance of immediate reporting and rape kits over not wanting to offend and feelings.
