I hate it when obviously shitty parents (and their friends) go off about how children's aid (or whatever) are "only out to take kids away from loving families." No, they're not.

The system is massively flawed. The poor and vulnerable are the primary victims of CPS -- regardless of whatever they're alleged to have done wrong -- because they don't have the resources to fight it. Meanwhile rich folk can beat their kids half to death, hire a lawyer to block CPS, and finish killing the kids.

Intelligence or wealth doesn't automatically make somebody a good parent. It does, however, ensure that they're more able to keep their kid even when they're a direct threat to their kid.

Kind of an awful stereotype and one that overlooks that *all* people try to justify their convictions. Plus parenting isn't strictly a matter of one method where any deviation should be punished, although that's how the insanely designed system now works.

...and there are plenty of wealthy women -- ones who married extremely well before the husband found out how awful they are -- who are able to keep their kids.
