I am not an expert by any means, far from it, and these are certainly questions for people more informed than I am. If I had to say though, it would be 1. J-pop is Japanese 2. China has some pop stars of their own but I don't think it's quite as much of a market there. The idol thing is far more Korean and Japanese than Chinese.
