They're competing for best animated feature. That award always has a shit list, with one clear winner. It's easily Coco this year, so don't pay attention to that list. Also, the Oscars themselves are usually super snobby and always have an agenda for what they pick. This year, it seems like it's pro-women's rights. Also, they don't care about super hero movies. They never have. The only one the did care about was Dark Knight, which was deserved, but they only gave it the Supporting Oscar award and that's it.
