Best noob friendly tip I can give: Upgrade the Stagecoach to produce 4 heroes ASAP so you never end up in a situation where you can't field a full team. Also, don't get too attached to any one hero. Don't upgrade one person or team far above the others, don't waste a bunch of resources curing stress or removing quirks off them. Just keep recruiting and dismissing units until you're comfortable with the game It's more the controls.
