B) I actually prefer not to marathon the game even when I have time to, playing a few quests or hunts then going to another game just feels better for some reason.

I'm with you. I've been taking my time, grinding for gear I like, doing sidequests and unlocking new tools, gadgets, and features. Honestly, this game does a good job of rewarding you for exploring and taking your time, so I feel like alot of us are in that boat.

C) it took me a stupid long time to find weapons I liked. Everyone recommended sword and shield for newbies but I honestly hate that weapon. After much experimentation I found that the dual blades and longsword are my best weapons, especially dual blades, the fast agile playstyle suits me best, plus the demon mode is awesome. Once I really dug into dual blades I hit my stride.

Yeah, people suggest sword and shield because it's the most accessible and the easiest to pick up, but honestly, I don't see a lot of people using them in the higher ranks. I think it's suggested more as a gateway weapon to ease you into the series. The way the weapons work reminds me of a fighting game; each weapon is so massively different that it might as well be a completely new game. Personally, I'm a Heavy Bowgun guy, but I dabble in Hammers, Light Bowguns, and Bows.

D) the learning curve is definitely no joke. I'm still figuring things out lol. Not a bad thing, I love this games complexities.

The best part is when it all starts to 'click' and suddenly you are studying monsters and watching their tracks and you really feel like a seasoned hunter tracking some sinister wild beast.

E) this games community is excellent. I often send SOS flares just to make fights harder and it's more fun playing with other people. People seem so eager to help kill monsters.

Yeah, it's astonishingly, really. I've literally had a single quest fail because someone was being stupid (a double blader rushed the monster we were supposed to capture), but it wasn't really a big thing. Other than that, there have been a couple guys that trolled a bit, but nothing game breaking.

G) I still don't know exactly how best to outfit my palico. I've been just giving him whatever armor has most defense and switching between the poison bow and this big ass mace depending on what I'm doing.

Honestly, it's most decoration. I just match my set. You can customize them to what you are fighting, but the game is built for multiplayer and, as soon as a third person joins, your Palico leaves. So just dress them how you want and use your SOS flare frequently.
