Some restaurants split the tip with the kitchen. I've been unlucky enough to work at restaurants that don't split the tip. But for one of the occasions where we had a large take out order, a bartender came back to tip the kitchen. That was sweet of him.


But why though? I mean the cooks actually get paid a proper amount of money, the servers almost always never do, and have to make it up with tips.


Servers' earning potential with tips are astronomically higher than cooks. Do not feel sorry for them.
