While that pic is contrived, you completely missed the point. When you are a minority, and you finally get representation, that person holds a very special place in your heart. Seeing someone get the last of something that means more to you is a terrible feeling.

The roundabout justifications and excuses for what effectively amounts to segregation these days.

not so with Superman and whiteness.

It was kind of central to Superman as well, considering it was part of the all-American look at the time. Additionally, part of his creation was done to specifically avert the "-American", which was strictly a white thing since blacks were just called blacks at the time.

But it is important to understand that most black people didn't care about Black Panther/T'Challa or any other black character that fits whatever definition of "superhero" until very recently. "Superheroes" are just one specific genre of entertainment.

Where are you going with that argument? Are you arguing that because collectively they're late adopters they should be more entitled to it? Because that's kind of a weird position. If anything, you've kinda argued that Black Panther is a "white thing" rather than a black thing.

Do people seriously think this is the first movie with a black hero?

tbh, Meteor Man will always be my favorite black superhero movie.
