The Bill of Rights havent been screwed with for good reason: it sets a dangerous precedent. Alter the second? Lets change the first. Okay, now lets alter the fifth. And with identity politics driving our country it would cause a cluster fuck every time the next majority comes in. Interpretation by justices on the Supreme Court is one thing, but a total change would be disastrous.

My friend, the 2nd amendment was put into place because the U.S. did not have a standing army at the time. Now that we have one, you can see why it might not be necessary...


So after the US established a military, why didnt we just go ahead and ditch it?
I'm no historian so I'm not going to pretend to be able to answer that, I just know that the revolutionary war was fought between redcoats and militiamen who didn't even have a uniform. without the 2nd amendment in place, they may not have been able to fight the British army.


You do realize the Constitution was written after the war right? The second amendment did not apply to the Revolution...
