Why are you guys still arguing with these nutjobs? You can't convince gun nuts of anything reasonable because they don't live in reality.

Two main reasons:

1) So anytime they seep out of their crevices and spout their BS, a cascade of voices fight back and let them know they're wrong. They may be delusional, but even they can't ignore being disdained by the vast majority of the populace. They'll cry "bias" or claim everyone other than them is "brain washed" or such, but they're at least forced to confront the fact that they're in the tiny minority. Still better than remaining silent and letting them maintain the illusion that everyone agrees with them, because no one's arguing against them.

2) In relation to the last point above; it's not to convince the nut so much as to convince anyone else reading the topic who might confuse silence for agreement.
