It's less to do with the shows themselves being worse, though, and more to do with the channels getting worse with programming shows. Anyone remember the days when marathons were only for special occasions, instead of most channels having marathons 24/7? They do it because they know normal people record all their tv in advance and the channels that get the most shows recorded capture most views so they put up entire seasons at a time to capture recording space.
