Like, seriously, this is a low point for the series. Super out of character and not in tone with the series at all. Just really embarrassing, like it was written as DBZ fanfiction by a guy with a Kingdom Hearts username. It's a speech Gohan might give, not Goku.

Couldn't disagree more. (Well, not with all of it, it WAS out of character, but that's fine)

This speech is amazing, because Goku was EXACTLY that in that moment, he was indeed the hope of the universe, the answer we all needed to finally be rid of the Universal Emperor Frieza. He was the ally for all good Frieza had yet to destroy, and ask Frieza, he certainly was his nightmare (SSJ's being his fear much of his life).

Goku's Japanese speech is fucking stupid.

About being a Saiyan from earth with a calm heart in a rage. The ONLY good part of it is when he screams he is the Super Saiyan Son Goku, but that was because it was acknowledging finally becoming a Saiyan... but he already did that. So it was the rewrapping of a character moment that already happened.

Also, he DID go there specifically to stop Frieza. This is made clear in the manga as well, he didn't JUST go there for a fight this time, he was absolutely all about stopping him from destruction. Hence the English speech making far far more sense. Goku was a hero from the 23rd to Cell games, and he is portrayed as such. Yes he still wants to fight things (Vegeta and Piccolo being obvious)

It was only before that and after his death at Cell that he went back to just being the worst person ever.
