It's not any more reasonable though. There's no reason why them being a victim makes it any more ok for them to talk about than anybody else. There is no reasonable waiting period for rational discourse regarding any event. Everything is political because everyone and every event is influenced by politics.

If you can't understand why someone in a mass shooting might immediately think, "what could've been done to protect myself and my peers" is different than some random on the Internet going off about gun control before even feeling anything about the loss of human life, we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Why can't someone that was uninvolved ask, "What could have been done to prevent this?" Is it not reasonable for compassionate people to look at tragedy and look for ways to prevent it?
