Topic | My boss, wrt me being a contrator: 'We're working on fixing that. Believe me.' |
CableZL 03/08/18 1:09:57 PM #1: | Feels good, man. But even with being a contractor, it's not so bad. The reason I was so hesitant about being a contractor again is because I had a shitty experience as a contractor the last time I was one. My 1st experience with being a contractor was when I worked as a material handler for Dell through a company called Spherion. It was mostly fine. Paychecks came in on time. I used my smartphone to check my bank account every Friday to make sure my paycheck came in. The ONE time I just assumed I'd get paid and didn't check, all hell broke loose. I'd normally check my bank account during the morning break, but that one Friday I just didn't and assumed my money would be there. I checked my bank account at lunch and saw that I only got paid for 10 hours when I worked 50 hours. I was pissed. I told my boss about it and went to the Spherion office at the Dell facility I worked at. I clearly saw that they didn't submit all of my hours, but they told me I'd have to go to the actual Spherion office to get it straightened out. So, I drove to the Spherion office. I raised hell, but they said there was nothing they could do and would have to cut me a check on the following Monday. I was taking a trip to Atlanta that weekend, so this hurt pretty bad. The worst moment was when they offered to buy me pizza to "make it through the weekend." This set me off even worse. I told them they can just not order pizza and give me the money they owe me instead of buying pizza. That Atlanta trip sucked because I couldn't afford to do anything while we were there. Ended up getting the rest of my money that following Monday. I was so mad. The company I'm contracted through now typically only deals with skilled individuals being placed in higher paying jobs, and they've been flawless as far as I'm concerned. They've never missed a paycheck. Even when they were at risk of missing a check at the beginning, they had a guy drive to the office where I worked and hand delivered the check. I'm happy with this contracting company. Still, it'll be nice once I'm a full time employee again. Edit: Topic title should say "contractor," not "contrator" --- ... Copied to Clipboard! |
