My attitude based on the verbiage of the amendment is that outright bans are unconstitutional, but waiting times, restraints on the amount that can be owned/purchased in a short time period, and criminal background checks/registrations are all perfectly acceptable. There was an Assault Rifle ban back in the 90s tho. No there wasn't. Assault rifles are already banned by amendments to the National Firearms Act, which dates back to the 30s. You're thinking of the bullshit "Assault Weapons" ban. Which created a poorly defined term and just banned things Sara Brady thought were scary.
