I'm not fond of this generation of Tomb Raider.

It's like they saw Uncharted and thought their only way to make something unique was to "do that but gritty".

Which I love considering Uncharted was openly a rip off of Tomb Raider.

None of Lara Croft's confidence and charm has been carried over into this universe, making her feel foreign and distant to me. I also don't really like the gunplay.

I don't mind Lara no longer being confident.

TR 1-6 Lara was a bitch
And Legend-Underworld Lara was goofy but pretty 2D

The thing they screwed up IMO was they made it "Gritty" and character driven... But then didn't give Lara a character.

She's just a girl who gets beaten up for 10 hours straight. Which sucks but you need to do more than just beat someone up to get us to sypathize with them. Christ we've seen Goomba's be destroyed for over 20 years.

I remember reading a TR Comic and the Blood Ties DLC as well made a note that Lara Croft loves Jaffa Cakes and stuck out to me that's in the new reboot that's like the only thing I can think of to describe her

Seriously take a moment, describe the new reboot Lara's personality.

I don't think it's the grit that made it not work, its the poor writing. Making a character heavy game about someone with no character.

It would be like taking God of War but instead of fighting Gods you're just a dude raising his son in the woods.

I never thought of that but youre right

They give a lot of background to her crew and the people of the enemies, but nothing outside of "I want to prove myself to my dead father!"
