It's one of the original reasons because back then they did depict Muhammad in certain old texts. However, what Islam needs to take into effect is that in context it needs to change with the times. No one in this day of age is going to look at a picture of Muhammad and go "Oh shit, I need to worship this beautiful bastard!".
