That is a massive, unnecessary waste of money. Oil usually doesn't need to be changed until around 15k miles.


You can do an oil change for $25, so it's not a "massive" waste of money, and even if the benefit from more frequent oil changes is small, it's still worth it given that an ENGINE change will run you ~$7,500.


Yes, it is a waste. Changing your oil 5x more than you need to is ridiculous.
