They're not going to reunite. At least not any time soon. For the simple reason that this is not what South Korea wants.

Of course they do. I thought a united Korea under southern rule was what the world had been fighting for since the 60s.

you do realize that the massive financial burden that the north korean populace is going to put on whatever country takes in its "refugees" will cripple them for decades to come

Who cares about economics? People are suffering and they have a right to freedom.

And one thing I found amazing about this whole thing was when Kim Jong-un admitted "We are the same people" when referring to Koreans. That's a major step forward for peace and understanding.

you really think that jingoist piece of human trash is going to step down as dictator? if he does not maintain the status quo there, he is fucking gone and so is his family. he knows this.

the entire north korean crisis is so far flung and fucked up that there is no simple solution that is going to cause less suffering than there is now.

even if we do manage to unseat the kim family without triggering a conflict with china the problem of not just caring for the people there, but reprogramming them from generations of brainwashing is not exactly a task that south korea is currently capable of.

Is this going to be one of those times when you pretend not to have a plan until the last moment? And then turn out to really not have one?
