I heard it took forever for this pokemon to be discovered cause most just used it behind closed doors

I'm pokemon go, I've never seen one in pokemon go. I've seen their base form in gyms, but never the evolved form, which says a lot, because some local hardcore players buy a ton of incubators, so it's common to see fully evolved stuff in gyms before encountering/hatching their base forms. This thing is rare as fuck.
