I wouldnt be surprised if Oda is being told to stretch OP as much as possible. I mean it was already long, but now that almost every other big seller has ended or is ending they gotta keep OP as long as possible

People don't seem to realize this, but writing manga is a job. If your manga ends, you lose your job. Most mangaka are opposed to this, so they try to keep the series going as long as possible.

And before you say "Oda's so rich he'd never have to work lololol," a lot people, especially hardworking people, actually like having a job, so retiring young isn't a good option.
